Ways to Liven up Grilled Asparagus

Asparagus is a nutrient dense green vegetable, member of the lily family and should be part of a balanced diet. With nutrition benefits like high vitamin A, B, C, K, Folacin and Thiamin it will benefit your health to learn different ways to prepare asparagus. Below are three delicious and simple recipes for the grill.

Balsamic Vinegar and Sea Salt

1 1/2 lb asparagus
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tea spoon sea salt
1/4 tea spoon pepper
2 teaspoons olive oil

Place the rinsed asparagus on a sheet of aluminum foil. Make sure to cut off the bottom ends. Pour the olive oil and sprinkle all of the pepper and half of the sea salt over the asparagus. Wrap the foil completely over the all of the stalks and place on the grill at medium-high heat for 8-12 minutes.

After you remove the asparagus from the grill drizzle with balsamic vinegar and dash with the remaining sea salt. Enjoy!

Lemon Pepper Asparagus

1 1/2 lb asparagus
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 lemon
1/4 cup Romano cheese
1/2 tea spoon sea salt
1/2 tea spoon freshly ground pepper

Put a bundle of rinsed asparagus on a sheet of aluminum foil. Make sure to cut off the bottom ends Cut the lemon into 4 wedges. Squeeze 3 of the wedges on top of the stalks of asparagus. Drizzle the olive oil and sprinkle the salt and pepper then wrap the stalks completely in tin foil. Place on the grill at medium-high heat for 8-12 minutes.

Once you remove from the grill squeeze the juice from the last lemon wedge over the top and sprinkle with Romano cheese.

Parmesan and Tomatoes

1 1/2 lb asparagus
2 tablespoon olive oil
2 diced tomatoes
1/2 tea spoon sea salt
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1-2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar or sesame oil (optional)

Put a bundle of rinsed asparagus on a sheet of aluminum foil. Make sure to cut off the bottom ends and then cut the rest of the stalks of asparagus into halves. Drizzle with olive oil, put the tomatoes over the top, and dash sea salt before wrapping the contents completely in tin foil. Place on a grill at medium heat for 8-12 minutes.

Remove asparagus from grill and sprinkle Parmesan cheese. This will taste
great as it is. If you want to change the flavor of this recipe you can add some
balsamic vinegar or sesame oil right before serving. Both will go well with the
recipe.

Create Your Own Recipe

Asparagus will pair and taste great with many ingredients. It is possible to use basil, onion powder, amino chain and vinegar dressings, fresh garlic, garlic powder, thyme, horseradish, wasabi, and ginger. Many flavors of mustard go well on top of grilled asparagus.

You can also cook asparagus in the oven. Heat to about 450 degrees and place in oven for 10-25 minutes depending on how you want it cooked.
