The Acropolis Four Star Grill located at 2213 Hamilton Place Blvd in Chattanooga, TN is a great family restaurant with authentic Greek dishes. My friends and I have eaten there so much that I think we have probably tried just about everything on their menu.
My favorite appetizer is the Ultimate Chip Dip. It’s a large portion of freshly made potato chips and spinich artichoke dip. There’s enough of this appetizer to share with an entire table. In fact, I’ve found that all of the portions at The Acropolis are very generous no matter what we order.
I love the lemon chicken soup too. It’s a very hearty soup with chunks of chicken, rice and a lemony cream base. Sometimes at lunch I like to get just soup and an appetizer. The traditional gyros also make for a great lunch. They are very inexpensive and plenty of food even for a hearty appetite. The gyro meat is always cooked to perfection and I can’t get enough of the tzatziki sauce.
As for their calamari, I love it! It’s funny because I usually don’t like calamari, but the calamari at the Acropolis is different. It isn’t rubbery like what I’ve gotten in other restaurants and the flavor is great.
You can also get chicken, shrimp, lamb, or vegetable kabobs. These are skewers of large pieces of meats and vegetables that are seasoned with garlic and oregano and grilled. These are great for lunch or dinner.
My boyfriend loves their steaks, especially the New York Strip. Who would have thought that a Greek restaurant would have amazing steaks? They are tender and juicy and cooked exactly to order.
They also have a huge variety of fresh seafood on the menu as well. There’s crab cakes, lobster tails, shrimp, stuffed flounder, and a whole assortment of fish filets and fried fish entrees. If you love seafood, then you’re sure to want to return again and again to try all of their wonderful seafood dishes.
Personally, my all-time favorite dish is the Greek Combo. There’s so much food on the combo that I always have enough left overs for at least one other meal. It has delicious stuffed grape leaves, Greek lasagna (pastitsio), moussaka, and gyros meat with pita bread and tzatziki sauce. It’s also served with soup, salad, and an assortment of warm, fresh bread. It’s enough food to share, but I don’t recommend it. After all, part of the fun is that you have enough left over to enjoy again the next day for lunch!
The Acropolis also serves a huge variety of pastas and other Italian dishes that are out of this world. I recommend their chicken parmigiana and the fettucine alfredo with chicken or shrimp.
If you’re on a diet or trying to eat healthy, then there are plenty of salads with meats to select from. The staff at the Acropolis are also kind enough to slightly alter dishes to accomodate allergies and special diets. All you have to do is ask the waiter before you place your order and they will check with the kitchen to see if your selection can be altered to suit you.
No matter what you are in the mood for, you’re sure to find a whole assortment of dishes that you can’t wait to try again and again at the Acropolis Four Star Grill. Best of all, the service is as good as the food!
