How to Put a Twist on your Breakfast Cereal

So what’s for breakfast this morning? Cereal. Tomorrow? More cereal. The next day? You guessed it – more cereal. For those of use without the time or culinary skills to make a full breakfast, we may be relegated to having cereal for breakfast on quite a regular basis. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t things you can do to liven it up a little bit. The following tips can help give a twist to your breakfast cereal.

Add fresh fruit

Fresh fruit can take a boring breakfast cereal and add something very nice to it. For instance, fresh ripe delicious strawberries can make a boring flake cereal much tastier. This will even add a healthful twist. You do not have to do the same fruit every time. You can switch it up. You can also put in different fruits into the same bowl. Some common fruits that you can use include the aforementioned strawberries, bananas, raspberries and blueberries.

An alternative to fresh fruit would be to add some sort of dried fruit. This could be raisins, dried cranberries, dried blueberries or whatever else you think would make the cereal taste good. You could try different things to see what tastes you like the best.

Mix cereals

If you alternate between two cereals, why not add a twist to it by twisting them together? Put both in the same bowl. You may find that you like them both together than individually. If you are wrong, then you have not wasted too much. There are so many different types of breakfast cereals that you can create quite an array of combinations. You can even mix together more than one cereal. You can mix two things that are similar such as two types of Cheerios or two completely different types.

Add other spices or ingredients

Different spices might give your breakfast cereal a twist. For instance, cinnamon might add a nice touch to a lot of cereals. Also, instead of regular milk you can add something such as chocolate or strawberry milk. If you really want something very sweet, you can even add something such as chocolate chips. This might turn it more into a dessert than breakfast but it can be something you do once in while for a treat. All of these things might give a different taste to your otherwise ordinary breakfast cereal.

There are many different things that you can do to put a twist in your breakfast cereal. Consider the above techniques to help you create a unique unique flavor for a perennial favorite.
