Easy to Peel Hard Boiled Egg

If you are looking for the best way to boil eggs so they peel easily, look no more. The secret to boiling an egg so the shell slips right off is not in how you cook the egg, but in how fresh the egg is when you boil it.

To make hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel, you need to use eggs that are not too fresh. Eggs that are less fresh have a little pocket of air in them and this makes the shell slide off when peeling them.

Shop for eggs that are the least fresh by looking at the freshness date and choosing the carton of eggs that will expire the soonest. Do not use eggs that are past their freshness date. Look for eggs that are about to expire soon, but are still within their freshness date.

Even if you buy the least fresh eggs available at the store, chances are they will still be too fresh to guarantee they will peel easily. So, you should put the eggs in the back of the refrigerator and let them sit until they get closer to their “best by” date.

If you have an event or a party coming up and you are making deviled eggs, you will need eggs that are easy to peel so they are not all torn up. To guarantee that your eggs will be easy to peel, you need to plan in advance and buy your eggs early. Then let them sit in the refrigerator for a week or two so they can “ripen” a bit before you boil them. Just as long as you use them by the expiration date you will be fine. The closer you get to the expiration date the better!

To boil your eggs, just boil them as you normally would. How you cook the eggs is not what matters. It’s the freshness of the eggs that counts. What you can do is put the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with hot water. Then bring them to a full boil and let them boil for about 5 minutes. Remove the pot and cover with a lid and let the eggs sit in the boiling water for at least 10 minutes or until the water is cool.

Don’t worry if you let the eggs cook too long. As long as they are not overly fresh, they will peel easily every time. If you want to peel them later, just put them in the refrigerator. Then peel them under warm water when you are ready to peel them.
