Buck’s Fizz, no not the English 80’s band of ‘Making Your Mind Up’ fame, no, but a lovely breakfast beverage. There’s no need to keep it for a perfect side to kedgeree, but one can enjoy this smooth bubbly drink at any time of the day.
It’s a very simple drink, so simple in fact that I’m surprised, yet happy, that it has appeared as a topic on helium. The ingredients are as follows.
Take one bottle of champagne – now the amount you send on the champagne is up to you, sparkling wine will do, but for authentic taste it really should be champagne.
Take some freshly squeezed orange juice – now again shop bought is fine, I suggest you use the smooth variety (one without bits) or strain your squeezed juice to remove the bits!
Pour one part orange juice to one part champagne into a champagne flute and sup merrily. One could garnish with a slice of orange on the side of the glass or you can leave it naked, it’s up to you, the great thing is that it can be as strong or as weak as you want! It’s all about making your mind up!
