Chobani Greek Style Yogurt

A few months ago I discovered the delicious taste of Greek yogurt. In my local supermarket they sell several different varieties of Greek yogurt but by far and away Chobani Greek yogurt is my favorite. And since trying Greek yogurt I quickly discovered that I no longer have a taste for “Americanized” or other commercial yogurts that are sold in American markets. Greek yogurt is thicker and creamier than it’s Americanized counterparts and Chobani is the best tasting of all.

At my supermarket Chobani is sold in 6 oz containers. Chobani Greek yogurt comes in more varieties than other types of Greek yogurt. It is sold in plain(vanilla), blueberry, pineapple, pomegranate, strawberry, strawberry banana, and honey varieties. It is inexpensive; it costs $1 per 6 oz container. My local supermarket sells it 10 for $10.

Chobani Greek style yogurt is all natural and comes in low fat or non fat varieties. Chobani is manufactured with no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. Greek style yogurt has been found to be healthier than other yogurts because it contains more active cultures. Chobani has five active cultures including: S.thermophilus, L. bulgaricus and L. acidophilus, Bifidus, and L. casei. These active cultures help to aide in digestion and promote good intestinal health overall. They also help to the body to absorb more calcium.

Called “yiaourti” in Greece, yogurt has been a popular food in most of the Mediterrean and Middle East for centuries. It is eaten for breakfast but it is more commonly eaten in cooked dishes and used to make sauces and dips. Because Chobani Greek yogurt is thicker than American yogurt (it has the consistency much like sour cream), it is a better choice to be used in cooking.

Chobani Greek style yogurt has been a delicious way to start my day for months now and I have found Americanized yogurt to be watery and unappealing. I haven’t gone back to eating regular yogurt after trying Greek yogurt and Chobani is the only variety I buy. I like that fact that it comes in many different varieties and I also like the fact that the company gives 10% of its profits to different charities worldwide. Delicious yogurt and a donation to charity. What more could you ask for in a yogurt?
